| Castle Banks Cottage is a period house centrally situated in a quiet lane just behind the town's eleventh century castle. It is only a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants and pubs and about seven minutes walk to the train station. Our beamed rooms are pretty and comfortable with lovely views over to the River Ouse and its surrounding meadows. Both bedrooms have a wash basin, tea and coffee making facilities, TV and radio; razor point, hair dryer and ironing facilities. Bathroom and separate toilet are near each room. |

We have a small, flower-filled garden where visitors can have breakfast (traditional English or vegetarian) on warm summer days; for individual celebrations, we offer a 'Special Occasion Breakfast', details on request. |
Visitors to Castle Banks Cottage will find a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and for those not so fluent in English, we can discuss breakfasts and other important things in French, Italian and German.
Lewes is a historic town with small shops (antiques, specialist food, crafts), museums, art galleries and a variety of restaurants and pubs to choose from; we have produced a 'trail' for a short circular walk from Castle Banks. The town is also an excellent centre for visiting nearby Charleston Farmhouse (home to artists and writers of the Bloomsbury group), Monks House (home to Virginia Woolf), Firle Place, Brighton's Royal Pavilion, the moated medieval Michelham Priory and the Bluebell Steam Railway. Many famous gardens - Sheffield Park, Leonardslee, Nymans, Borde Hill - are all within easy driving distance. As garden lovers ourselves, we are glad to advise on the best time of year to visit these. For walkers, there are the South Downs, Friston Forest, Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters chalky cliffs near Eastbourne. |
